Victorian DH State Round #1 – You Yangs
Posted by Charlton Durie in Diary, Race Reports Friday, 28 October 2011
You Yangs National Park near Geelong in Victoria was the host to the first Victorian Downhill State Round for the 2011-2012 season. With mixed feeling going into the weekend after another summer in Whistler and no real expectations hanging over my head I went into the race quite relaxed for most of the weekend till midday Sunday this all changed!
Whistler, Crankworx and Injuries

It was after sitting down at the local coffee shop, watching the never ending stream of happy tourists that it occurred to me how damn lucky I am! After giving a local dog a quick pat temporarily distracted him from his never ending mission in search of food and a bit of loving I was thinking who can say they move to the most spectacular place on earth British Columbia in Canada for 5 months of the year to work, ride, hang out with friends and just love life. On top of that, be able to race in the biggest mountain bike festival in the world simply by stepping out my front door onto the mountains surrounding Whistler. Lakes, sun, pools, hot tubs, beers, friends, riding, racing and that’s just touching the surface of what makes up my days… Seriously what more could one want!
Nationals Series DH #2 – Mt Baw Baw

Mt Baw Baw was the host to round two of the 2010/2011 Jayco Australian Mountain Bike Downhill Series over the weekend bringing the country’s best riders together from all around Australia. Over this wet weekend of racing my thoughts continue for those in Queensland who are suffering and continue to suffer great loss of possessions or life itself. My heart goes out to you all.
