Nationals Series DH #2 – Mt Baw Baw
Posted by Charlton Durie in Diary, Race Reports Monday, 17 January 2011
Mt Baw Baw was the host to round two of the 2010/2011 Jayco Australian Mountain Bike Downhill Series over the weekend bringing the country’s best riders together from all around Australia. Over this wet weekend of racing my thoughts continue for those in Queensland who are suffering and continue to suffer great loss of possessions or life itself. My heart goes out to you all.

It’s been about 4 weeks now since the downhill lifts have opened here at Whistler and I have been loving every bit of it. It took a while to get used to the size of everything over here…the jumps are bigger, the drops are bigger, the berms are bigger; it’s as though everything here is just bigger than anything I have seen let alone ridden before.
Whistler for the Summer

So the adventure has started! I am now sitting in a peaceful apartment in Whistler village listening to the rain fall gently against the window looking out onto Blackcomb Mountain. Most nights we get a bit of rain here but the rest of the time the weather is pretty good, a little on the cold side though. I arrived late Wednesday night after a draining 24 hours of traveling and have spent the last few days unpacking and settling in.
